Introduction
The Janus Pannonius Museum (JPM), Pécs. the Department of Archaeology is responsible by law for the investigation and preservation of the archaeological heritage of Baranya County. To fulfill its role the Museum collects and exhibits the archaeological finds recovered from the County, and carries out rescue and research archaeological projects.
History
The predecessor of Baranya County Museums, the Pécs City Museum was established in 1904. Though named City Museum, it was ab ovo a place for collecting and preserving the cultural and natural historical heritage of the entire county.
