How to get here
By plane
Frankfurt has one of the busiest and best connected airports in Europe, all main carriers fly to Frankfurt at least once a day. But be careful, there is another airport in Germany, officially belonging to Frankfurt called Frankfurt-Hahn which is indeed rather far away from the city (bus connection, 1:45 h). Many of the cheaper airlines like RyanAir fly to Frankfurt-Hahn. If you wish to fly to the main airport of Frankfurt please make sure to book a flight to IATA-Code FRA!
There is very good suburban train ('S-Bahn') system as well as various regional and interregional trains connecting the airport with Frankfurt Central Station ('Hauptbahnhof'). All westbound trains from the airport's regional station ('Regionalbahnhof') reach the city in app. 20 minutes. There are a number of options how to reach the University from the Central Station, the easiest way (direct line) is using the Bus 64 (see below).
By bus
Many interregional bus lines connect Frankfurt with the rest of Europe. Please make sure to book to Frankfurt/Main, not to Frankfurt/Oder - it's the river Main you should be heading for, not the river Oder.
Most busses arrive at Frankfurt Central Station ('Hauptbahnhof') from which you can easily proceed by public transport (see below).
By train
Frankfurt is very well connected by train as well, the Central Station ('Hauptbahnhof') is pretty much in the city centre. Again, make sure to book to Frankfurt/Main, not to Frankfurt/Oder! Proceed from the Central Station via public transport.
Public transport in Frankfurt
The public transport system in Frankfurt is very good with lots of busses, subways ('U-Bahn'), suburban trains ('S-Bahn') and trams ('Straßenbahn'). You can buy single tickets, day tickets (you save money if you use the transport system at least 3times a day), group day tickets and week tickets. You can buy the tickets from bus drivers, from ticket machines at all subway, suburban train and tram stops and at some bus stops as well. Tickets from the local transport company RMV are valid as soon as you buy them, no further stamping is needed. You can change between different busses and trains on a single journey but make sure to have your valid ticket available for on-board inspection. More information about tickets and connections can be found online.
If you want to go to the University the easiest way is to use bus line 64 (direction Ginnheim). The stop is opposite the south exit of the Central Station ('Hauptbahnhof Südseite'). Leave the bus at 'Bremer Straße' stop and cross the street - the buildings of the University Campus Westend are on the left hand side, the building with the conference room ('Casino' building, room 823) is situated behind the large main building. See below for a map of the university.
Other connections to the University Campus:
- bus line 36 (connects i.a. the Roman-Germanic Commission with the university), leave at stop 'Uni Campus Westend'
- subway ('U-Bahn') lines 1, 2, 3, 8, leave at stop 'Holzhausenstraße' (no direct connection to the Central Station
Conference venue
The conference will take place in room 823 of the Casino building (# 2a of the map below) of the Campus Westend of Frankfurt University (see the venue on GoogleMaps).

All prices subject to change and availability.
Plenty of other hotels are available via the usual booking portals - and public transport in Frankfurt is very good so it shouldn't be a big problem to reach the conference venue from other hotels.
