First part of the ArchaeoLandscapes survey concerning the collection of information about archives containing historical aerial photos from all over Europe was conducted in the autumn 2011. The survey which is an action in working package 5: Securing the better exploitation of existing air-photo archives across Europe will proceed but the responses from the first step have already resulted in interesting findings. One respondent – Preus Museum in Norway - informed about the presence in their archive of four aerial photos taken from balloon over Berlin in the late 19th century. The results of a more closely study of the photos, their motives and biography have been published in AARGnews vol. 45, September 2012 and here you can get access to a pdf of the paper.
